Mexican artist who graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado La Esmeralda. His practice is characterized by an economy of means and a conscious use of gestures and materials, with the body often serving as a measure or as an element integrated into space. Working across photography, video, performance, sculpture, installation, and painting, Ramírez frequently develops projects in relation to specific sites and contexts. His work explores the relationship between body, object, and space, and can be approached from poetic, political, historical, playful, and formal perspectives.
In 2013, artist Jannis Kounellis invited him to live and work in Italy, establishing an ongoing connection with the European art scene. Since 2019, he has been based in Monterrey while developing projects in different contexts internationally. His work has been exhibited at institutions including Museo Jumex, Museo Tamayo, Museo de Arte Moderno, Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes, Museo Carrillo Gil, Museo del Novecento in Naples, Fondazione MEMMO, and Palazzo Collicola. He has received the Premio Estatal Arte Nuevo León
(2022), the Level 0 Award at ArtVerona (2015), and the Acquisition Award at the Bienal de Arte Emergente de Monterrey (2012). He is currently a member of Mexico’s Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte.
