Zak van Biljon (b. 1981, South Africa) is a Swiss-based visual artist renowned for his innovative work in infrared landscape photography. Raised between Johannesburg and Cape Town, he graduated from the National College of Photography in 2003. In 2004, van Biljon moved to Europe and eventually settled in Zurich, where he balances commercial photography with his fine art practice.

His work explores the interplay between nature, perception and abstraction. Using infrared techniques originally developed for military and agricultural purposes, he transforms familiar landscapes into surreal compositions full of vibrant reds and pinks. This approach challenges conventional perceptions of the natural world, inviting viewers to reconsider their relationship with the environment.

His series Modernising Nature exemplifies this exploration, presenting landscapes and organic forms through a reimagined chromatic lens. Van Biljon's work has been exhibited internationally, including solo shows in Zurich, Basel, and Berlin, as well as group exhibitions in South Africa, the USA, and Germany.

Through his innovative use of infrared photography, he invites audiences to experience a reimagined natural world, where colour and form converge to evoke new emotional and perceptual responses.
